F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm | Best Hiking Trails In Akron

F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm is known for its hiking trails. The most popular ones include the following:

• Cherry Lane Trail is an easy loop that is only .6 miles long and later connects to the Fernwood Trail after crossing a bridge that’s 100-feet-long.
• Fernwood Loop is an easy trail that only goes for .9 miles.
• Seneca Trail is a moderately difficult trail that is unpaved and goes for 1.4 miles.
• Mingo Trail is a difficult trail that goes for 3 miles.

No pets are allowed within the Nature Realm. If you’re interested in camping, they have designated areas for individuals to set up camp.

Cascade Valley Metro Park- Chuckery Area | Best Akron Fishing Spots

Cascade Valley Metro Park has a total of 526 acres and has 6 different areas like Valley View, Overlook, Oxbow, Schumacher Valley, and Highbridge, and we will focus on the Chuckery area.

Some popular activities in the Chuckery area of Cascade Valley Metro Park include cross-country skiing, fishing, soccer, and hiking the Chuckery Trail that passes the Cuyahoga River. The Chuckery Trail is a difficult rating and is 2.4 miles long, but it has beautiful views and is well worth the hike.

Goodyear Heights Metro Park | Akron Winter Wonderland For Sledding

Since 1930, Goodyear Heights Metro Park has been a staple in the city of Akron. The beautiful pond, trails, trees, and activities make this park popular. It’s a family-friendly space because of the famous and well-known sledding hills during the winter, cross-country skiing, and the field to practice baseball.

Goodyear Heights Metro Park has three main areas within the park, and those include: the Main Entrance, Eastwood Ballfields, and the Pioneer Area.

During mating season, you can find hundreds of amphibians like: the spotted salamanders, spring peepers, wood frogs, American toads, and green frogs near the wetlands.

Within the 998 acres, there are seven different areas that you can explore. These include: the Wadsworth area, the Treating Line area, the Revere Road Lot, the Old Portage area, the North Hawkins area, the Lone Spruce area, and the Big Bend area.

The Sand Run Metro Park is a family-friendly, safe, and fun space to spend the day!

Hampton Hills Metro Park | Akron Park With Archery Range

The Hampton Hills Metro Park is one of the larger parks in the Akron metro area. This park is known for its topography–the physical features and what got previously left behind in nature. And in this case, the topography that got left after the last ice age.

You can find so many beautiful and unique species, such as different species of butterflies, bluebirds, wild turkeys, and red-tailed hawks. This park is ideal for visiting during the spring because of the breathtaking spring wildflowers.

If you’re into archery or want to learn, there are targets available year-round as long as you bring your own equipment.

Some of the best places to go for a hike in Hampton Hills Metro Park are in the Main Entrance and the Top O’ the World area. And if you’re interested in mountain biking, there are a couple of trails designed for beginners to experts.
